The static correction received is exactly like the jolt you feel when you walk across a carpeted floor in your stocking feet and then come in contact with a metal object. What type of bark collar works best?
The answer to this question lies with you, and your dog of course. As a pet owner, you know your dog best. Some things to consider when shopping for a bark collar:
- Your dog’s age: Bark collars or dog training collars should not be used on a dog younger than 6 months of age.
- Your dog’s size & weight: Your dog’s weight and collar size need to be considered when looking at collars. A bark collar for little dogs won’t be effective for a bigger or stubborn breed.
- Your dog’s nature: Is your dog extremely difficult to train? Shy and timid? There are bark collars specially created for both of these extremes, as well as standard collars that will work with most dogs. A very timid dog may react better to a Spray Bark Collar or Ultrasonic system. On the other hand, a larger dog will generally respond better to a bark control collar specifically made for big dogs.
Do bark control collars always work?
The success rate for bark collars is good, but you should keep in mind that bark devices might not work in every circumstance.
