Koi ponds are not just some holes in the ground wherein you can store and keep your pets. Once the pond is completely built, most of the are going to be permanently put in place, that's why you can't decide within 2 or 3 weeks that you want to have the construction of your pond in the backyard rather than the frontyard. Take time to plan carefully every aspect of your pond, considering the size requirements and placement. Once the pond is constructed, you can only do a little to change it, which is something that you have to remember all the time. As this will demand a lot of work on your part, make sure that you have the necessary time to do it.
