Aleutian Disease (Parvovirus): This is a very serious disease that affects the nervous system, liver, bladder, and kidneys. A ferret can be afflicted for 12 to 24 months without displaying any symptoms. When the symptoms do show up, they are very distinct. You will see tremors in your ferret’s head, weakness in the hind legs, extreme listlessness, and less frequent urination and defecation.

All pets can be susceptible to illnesses and diseases. By managing your ferrets diet and hygiene, regularly monitoring its health, and watching out for any signs of distress or sickness, you will have a good chance of keeping your ferret healthy. Milking a wild mare is no easy task; the milker needs to use a foal to start the flow of milk, but then immediately pull the foal away to collect the milk. But the milker must keep the foal close — if the mare doesn’t feel the foal touching her flank, she’ll resist the milking process.

So what are they like?
Long from head to tail but short in stature, Mongolians might look like ponies to those used to the thundering Mustang herds of the American west. While their wild nature makes them difficult to break, they have a friendly and warm nature once tamed.

Similar to the Mongolian breed is another breed called Przewalski’s Horse, the closest living wild relative of the domestic horse. In 1945, breeders brought this critically endangered horse back from the brink — believed to be extinct at the time, breeders found 31 horses and began mating them. Today, there are about 1500 of these animals in the wild.

Nadaam
The Nadaam Festival is a yearly sporting event in Mongolia, featuring horse racing, wrestling and archery. Held each July in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar, the festival begins with an elaborate opening ceremony which includes music and dancing. The horse race is cross-country, and horses race in individual classes separated by age. The top five horses in each class are awarded.

Corn snakes, like all other snakes, are carnivorous. Meaning they feed only on the flesh of other animals. Corn snakes feed small rodents and sometimes lizards, although they have been known to take small birds from time to time. A pet corn snake owner, obviously, will have an easier time supplying his or her exotic pets with mice than anything else.

An active corn snake will eat every 10 days or so. It is recommended to feed your corn snake pre killed prey, especially if the snake has not been raised on live prey. A live prey may also turn on and attack a lazy snake that isn’t feeling too hungry and possibly causing severe harm to your pet corn snake.

When to feed a corn snake and how much
Hatchlings are started out with pinkie mice for feedings and as the snake grows, gradually increase the size of the prey by offering fuzzies, crews, then small adult mice or rat pinkies.

Heating
Corn snakes, like all reptiles, cannot maintain their internal body heat. Thus, maintaining the cage at the proper temperature is vital to care of corn snakes. A temperature gradient from 70 – 75 ºF on one end of the cage to 80 – 85 ºF on the other should be maintained to allow the snake to regulate its body temperature by moving from one part of the cage to the other.

The heat mat is the best way to heat the corn snake’s cage. These are rectangular electrical heating pads, sealed in laminated plastic with the electrical cable coming out at one edge. Available in various sizes for different cages and can be purchased at reptile pet shops.

The heat pad should be placed under one-half of the cage, covering roughly half the floor area, thus giving the corn snake a choice of warm and cool areas. To easily monitor temperature, inexpensive self-sticks thermometers can be purchased and applied about an inch above the bottom of the cage on the warm side. A thermostat and heat sensor need to be incorporated in the system, to automatically switch the heat pad on and off as necessary. Lighting
Corn snakes do not need a light in order to survive. In fact, they would probably prefer no light. But most reptile pet owners prefer to put some kind of light in the cage, to see the pet better. An ordinary 60 watt household bulb will be quite adequate. It is not too bright and creating too much heat. The light must be placed at the same end as the heat pad. A mesh guard should be fitted around the light bulb, otherwise the snakes will put their noses right up to the light bulb and burn themselves.

After a several more weeks of one fuzzy, repeat the process you did with pinkies. When your corn snake swallows a fuzzy easily, then try to feed it with two. And after a few feedings with two fuzzies, try it with small adult mice. A full grown Corn snake can eat a medium to large mouse.

It may be helpful to visit a few pet shops to seek advise about exotic pets, make sure you are aware of all the special requirements they need.
