What is a good rate for house/pet sitting?

I am friends with a young married couple who are going to be away this weekend on their first anniversary. They asked me to watch their pets (1 full grown cat and a 4 month old puppy). The catch is, they want me to stay at their house during the weekend so the pets will be able to be out of their kennels for most of the day.

My question is: what would be a fair rate for looking after the animals while living at their house for the weekend? I wouldn’t really worry about it so much if I was just looking after the pets. But, I live quite a ways outside of town, so I wouldn’t be able to go back to my house over the weekend.

20 dollers a day depends on how much they make really some people on a good check could pay you 100 dollers a day but you really dont have to do much right?
I would say 20 but if they make real good money 50-60
ask them what they think is fair they know how much work really goes into these animals
just see how much you need to spend for this like your conveyance/fooding etc and some part as saving for your hard work, they’ll sure agree
The places around here charge something like $15 for a visit. It’s going to depend on your area. For staying there and handling a puppy, I’d say at least $30/day since you will be staying there.
More if it means other costs, like meals, will be higher than if you were at home.
If we had a house sitter I’d be willing to pay like $25/day.
Charge $40 per day, and keep a journal.
If you won’t be abe to go home over the weekend, and you have to pet sit for a full grown cat and a 4 month puppy, you should charge them about $8.00 a hour.
